Beginner Sourdough Making

This beginner-level class is designed for anyone who has ever been curious about the magic of creating delicious, homemade sourdough bread from scratch. No prior baking experience is required-just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to learn!
What You’ll Learn:
In this class, we’ll demystify the sourdough process and guide you step-by-step through the fundamentals. By the end, you’ll have the skills and confidence to bake your very own loaf. Get ready to roll up your sleeves, dust your hands with flour, and get into the dough. We can’t wait to share the joy of sourdough baking with you.
What We’ll Cover:
-Understanding what sourdough is and how it works.
-Making and maintaining your very own sourdough starter.
-Discuss what to do with starter discard and prepare great baked goods with it.
-Mixing, shaping, and scoring sourdough dough.
-Tips for achieving that perfect crust and crumb.
-Common mistakes and how to avoid them.
What To Bring:
We will provide all the essentials, including flour, tools, and a portion of sourdough starter to take home. All you need to bring is:
-A notebook or device for taking notes (optional).
-Curiosity and a love for good bread!
What You’ll Eat:
We will guide you through a multitude of ways to make delicious treats with sourdough discard (because you will end up with a lot as you continue on this journey). You will also try a pre-made sourdough loaf with homemade compound butter from your instructor’s oven. Leave with a full belly and full mind, ready to take your notes into action at home.
Important Information:
• You will work with other students in groups of 2, sharing workstations and equipment.
• This class is 4 hours in length due to the specific content and time necessary to rise the dough.
• Class limited to 12 students.
• You will be standing, cooking, and working for most of the class.
• There is a bar with beer, wine and cocktails for purchase during class. NO BYOB.
